Magnolia Cafe, Sorry We're (still) OPEN! (After 40 years!)

We recently went paddle boarding at Congress Avenue Kayaks and we had a great time and left tired. Afterwards we went to a Classic Austin 24 hour Resteraunt, Magnolia Cafe!

The food is wonderful, the queso is wonderful, the people are wonderful, AND:

There is a Pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling that has been there since Ben White wasn't just a side road.

That says something about the rich history there!

I got the Jalapeno Bacon Burger with Home Fries (potato wedges)

Amber had a Bleu Cheese Burger with chips and salsa,

Mom, and Holly got the Flaco Taco: Egg Bacon cheese and Avocado Tacos

...and we got a Queso to fight over share.

If you are thinking “Kerbey Lane is Better!” Check out our date there!
Fun Fact: Magnolia Cafe and Kerbey Lane Were Originally: “The Omelettry West” in 1979 started by Ken Carpenter with Patricia and Kent Cole.

When Carpenter decided to relocate to what is now, “The Omlettry” on Burnet. He offered the space to Kent and Patricia. They ended up divorcing a year later, Patricia went on to start Kerbey Lane Cafe while Kent stayed and started Magnolia Cafe! Almost 40 years later all three are still going strong!

So it may be better, or it may just be different, you decide!
