When I first saw a sign for the herb bar I thought “Wow that building is completely covered in vines!”

top to bottom it is swaddled in a loving vine. You open the little red door to realize that this building is much larger than it looks from the outside! Inside you will find everything from herbal teas to essential oils, natural toothpaste and deodorants, natural beeswax that actually smells like honey, and much much more!

If I had to pick a restaurant in Austin for the Humanitarian of the Year award, it would be Casa De Luz. 







Walking onto the property transports you to from the bustle of the city out to another world, peaceful, serene. It feels like you are a million miles away when you are literally surrounded by the city.

Casa De Luz has had delicious food and a FIXED menu price for the past FIFTEEN YEARS. If you still can't afford to pay your bill, you can work it off in the kitchen washing dishes. Meatless Monday? Late Night? Head to Bouldin' to have yourself a DELICIOUS burger and sweet potato fries! I mean, you can get whatever you want, but the burgers here are easily on my top 5 favorite veggie burgers of all time. 

All of their coffee offerings are locally roasted, organic, and fair trade. And they have the best food I have ever eaten at a coffee shop! Seriously though, why don't more coffee shops have better food?

I know, you are thinking: “What?

Avocados, Cream, Ice, and Sweetened Condensed Milk+20 seconds in a blender=SWEET CREAMY AVOCADO HEAVEN!

Some people think Avocados are a fruit, some think they are a vegetable. I am the kind of person that thinks that all fruit are vegetables so both arguments make sense to me. 

Then there's the Pho:

If you want some good Pho in Austin, 888 is where to get it. Warm, Hearty, and in a Large Bowl, this soup is the stuff rainy days were made for. 

But seriously, don't forget to try the Avocado Milkshake.

Black's Famous Lockhart Barbeque Comes to Austin

It used to be that you had to drive out to Lockhart to get good barbecue, and Black's was where to get it. Today you can get almost the same flavor without the drive by stopping in at Terry Black's.

Protip: If you want a sandwich don't order a sandwich. Get a half pound of straight brisket (or your meat of choice). Around the corner is free bread, pickles, onions, and sauce. Everything you need to make three or more sandwiches for roughly the same cost as if you ordered a single brisket sandwich!

This is everything on the $10 brisket sandwich

(Maybe a third to a half pound of brisket, I'll bring my scale next time)

We made four sandwiches with the pound of turkey we got. 

Onions, Pickles, BBQ sauce, everything that comes on the $10 Sandwich

$10 / 4 = $2.50 per sandwich

The Best Vacuums in Austin and they are FREE (with wash)

If this place is busy I will wait and wash my car at a later time just so I can use the vacuums. 

The real benefit here is the air compressor nozzles between the vacuum stations. 

You wouldn't think about using compressed air until you see HOW EFFECTIVE IT IS!

Blow the air into cracks and crevices, it will clear them out. Blow it into carpet and it will blow up all of the dirt and dust ground into your carpet. I don't understand why this isn't a feature on home vacuums. THIS IS AMAZING FOR CARPETS! 

Between the wash, the air, the vacuum, and the window cleaner, You can make your car look like brand new again. 

Protip: Great power comes with great responsibility, if you go about blowing into your carpet all willy nilly you will end up coating your car in a layer of dust. Keep the Vaccuum and the Air Nozzle close to each other. The idea is to blow the air at the carpet so when it bounces off , it flows up the vacuum nozzle carrying the dirt and dust with it. Start at the floor and make your way up for best results!

So after driving passed it several times we finally stopped in. WOW. The first thing I thought was “Snow cones with ICE CREAM?”

Best snow cones in austin for sure. Try a gourmet cone… or the horchata is amazing. We bowl a league at West gate lanes and this will now be a favorite go-to before or after we bowl.

The Date: My sister Shelly got us a year of dates for our honeymoon. The date for July was Texas Roadhouse! We really enjoyed our time here and we regularly go back. 

What is so good about Texas Roadhouse? The service is quick, the rolls are great, and they have a bucket of peanuts at every table which is fun. 

PROTIP: They offer a “kicker” with their drinks which is a tube filled with an extra ounce of alcohol for a few bucks more and worth it in my opinion. I have paid $10 for a 2 oz shot of Patron so a 1 oz Patron kicker for $2 is a great value upgrade for your drink.

For Extra Value You can stretch a meal by using the rolls!

Rolls + Cinnamon Butter = Pre-appetizer

Rolls + Chilli = Chili bread bowl

Rolls + rib meat = Rib sandwich

Rolls + steak = Steak sandwich

If you have peanut allergies, there are peanuts at the tables and shells on the floor. Most people don't have problems with this but if you are sensitive this might not be the best place for you.

They also have my favorite Birthday routine. They sit you up on a saddle and instead of singing a long embarrassing song, everyone gives you a big, quick YEE HAW! Which is great, and the saddle you sit on is an actual saddle!

We love going to Texas Steakhouse. Whether it is to celebrate something special or just to have a good time, Texas Roadhouse is a great choice. See you there sometime!
